menstrual cycle

By the end of your menstrual cycle usually the thickened uterine lining and extra blood are shed through the vaginal canal. Duration and intensity of the menstruation may not be the same every month, every season and it may not be the same as other girls and women's periods. Intensity of the periods can be light, moderate, or heavy, and the length of the periods also varies. In general, most periods last from three to five days, sometimes from two to seven days which is also normal. At the beginning (age 11-15) during first few years after menstruation begins you could have longer cycles. Duration of the menstruation tends to shorten and become more regular with age.

Menstrual cycle

Menstruation is the shedding of the lining of the uterus (endometrium) accompanied by bleeding. It occurs every month at the end of your menstrual cycle. Menstruation is coming very regularly throughout a woman's reproductive life, except during pregnancy and during
some diseases and treatments. Menstruation starts during puberty (at menarche) and stops permanently at menopause. If you have very intensive menstruation or pretty rare and poor menstruation – better meet your doctor for advice.

If your cycle is 28-day cycle, the first day of bleeding should be considered as a first day of the cycle. It is important to remember because in many cases (disturbances, pregnancy, contraception use, etc.) the first day of the cycle is usually the start of calculations (for you and for medical staff).
